The first internship began in 2015, with only one student in the internship. He wrote his research experiences in his UC essay and got accepted by the UCSD Cognitive Science and UCI Computer Science Department in 2016. He chose UCI and graduated. He accepted an Amazon offer in December of 2019 and started his first job in AWS Amazon in August 2020.
In 2018, there was still only one student, and he wrote his research experiences in his UC essay and got accepted into UCSD in 2019. He started his 2nd intern before he began his first year at UCSD. He presented on 7/6 of 2021, sharing his struggles wiht the pandemic.
In 2019, there were 11 interns, and we met twice a week at UCSD, invited speakers and interns to present every week, and we eventually attended the Optics Conference (SPIE) at the convention center.
In 2020, although we couldn't meet up in person, we still held zoom meetings twice a week, invited a total of 14 speakers to talk about their experiences, and we did some of the following activities: We had a software group, where the group wrote Python to control the Zeiss microscope. They also used Labview to call the Python code. We had a biology group, where they observed laser cutting experiments on nerve cells and also performed data analysis using ImageJ and Matlab.
